FEED MY SHEEP
"Feed My Sheep" is a community outreach ministry of various local individuals and churches, currently providing a monthly free lunch, a community swap of goods and services, and other emergency aid, in response to Jesus' call, with the vision that no one within 15 miles of Gordonsville go hungry in body or spirit. The July lunch will be held Saturday, July 26 at Gordonsville Baptist Church at the corner of High Street and Gordon Avenue. PIEDMONT LANDOWNERS
The Piedmont Landowners Association will meet Monday, July 28 at 7 p.m. This will be a field trip to observe and discuss a Robinson River stream restoration project conducted by the Culpeper Soil and Water Conservation District. We will meet shortly before 7 p.m. at Our Lady of the Blue Ridge Catholic Church parking lot just north of the town of Madison at the intersection of Routes 29 and 629. 4-H CLOVERBUD DAY CAMP
Spaces are still available for the 4-H Cloverbud Day Camp on July 28-Aug. 1. The program will be held daily from 9 a.m. to 12-noon just outside the town of Orange. Children ages 5-8 as of Sept. 30 are eligible to attend and need not be current 4-H members; cost is $30 per child for the week and includes snacks, souvenir tee-shirt, craft supplies and all fees. Planned activities include hiking, fishing, search and rescue dogs, making homemade ice cream and tie-dyeing; campers will learn 4-H camp songs and participate in group games daily. This is the first year for this exciting new adventure. Call the Extension Office to signup; remember camp starts Monday. YOUNG AT HEART CLUB
The Young at Heart Club will meet July 30 with Otis Gooding as our guest speaker. COMMUNITY TENNIS NIGHT
Wednesdays (July 30) is men's community tennis night and the purpose of this night is to get people out playing and try to get some of the more experienced players working with some of the novice players. You can come out and just hit around or play a match; whoever shows can play, it's free. Bring a can of tennis balls with you; we want to get the community involved with tennis again. BELMONT HORSE SHOW
Saturday, Aug. 16 at 9 a.m. the 68th annual Belmont Horse Show will be held at the show-grounds, one mile west on Rt. 612 from Rt. 522, approx. 11 miles north of Mineral and 23 miles south of Culpeper; rain-date Aug. 23. TRI-COUNTY TRACK MEET
This year's Tri-County Meet between citizens of Culpeper, Madison and Orange, ages four to 79, will be held at Culpeper County High School track Saturday, Sept. 13. Three field events, the long jump, shot-put and softball throw (for youngsters 4-12) have been added to the track events. The county scoring the most points will gain possession of the Winners Trophy until the 2009 Meet. Madison County has won the trophy in each of the first two years of competition.
