4-H CLOVERBUD DAY CAMP
Spaces are still available for the 4-H Cloverbud Day Camp on July 28-Aug. 1. The program will be held daily from 9 a.m. to 12-noon just outside the town of Orange. Children ages 5-8 as of Sept. 30 are eligible to attend and need not be current 4-H members; cost is $30 per child for the week and includes snacks, souvenir tee-shirt, craft supplies and all fees. Planned activities include hiking, fishing, search and rescue dogs, making homemade ice cream and tie-dyeing; campers will learn 4-H camp songs and participate in group games daily. Wednesdays (July 30) is men's community tennis night and the purpose of this night is to get people out playing and try to get some of the more experienced players working with some of the novice players. This year's Tri-County Meet between citizens of Culpeper, Madison and Orange, ages four to 79, will be held at Culpeper County High School track Saturday, Sept. 13. Three field events, the long jump, shot-put and softball throw (for youngsters 4-12) have been added to the track events. The county scoring the most points will gain possession of the Winners Trophy until the 2009 Meet. Madison County has won the trophy in each of the first two years of competition.
