The tenth annual youth fishing day sponsored by Gordonsville Lions Club, will be held Saturday, Sept. 27 from 12-noon to 4 p.m. at Lake Orange, Route 629. The September meeting of Orange County Historical Society will be a "bring your own picnic" get-together at Manual Level, home of John and Dee Cannon on Sept. 29 at 5:30 p.m. A massive structure, Manual Level stands upon a 22-inch thick stone-walled English basement. Twentieth and 21st century changes and renovations have built upon the original, ca. 1815 house, but have retained much of its original plan and character. The Cannons will provide tables and chairs. Every dog has their day… and it's Oct. 4. Residents and their furry, four-legged friends are invited to Louisa Aquatic Facility for a dip in the pools. The pools will only be reserved for dogs this day as a final farewell to our first aquatic season. Tennis balls and doggie treats will be provided. The Protective Money Management Volunteer Program of Rappahannock Rapidan Community Services Board/Area Agency on Aging is looking for volunteers in Orange County to assist seniors and clients of the agency with financial management. This program assists senior citizens and clients with limited income who may be having difficulty paying bills or managing their finances. The Protective Money Management Program is sponsored in part by AARP. Volunteer money managers are carefully selected, trained and monitored. Each volunteer is paired with a client who needs assistance with financial affairs.
