Four County Players, Central Virginia's longest running community theater, announces its spring production, "Same Time, Next Year."
The play, written by Bernard Slade, tells the story of a couple who meet by chance at a California seaside cottage and spend one weekend together every year for more than 20 years.
It is a wonderful, tender, adult comedy about how memories are created and sustained over time.
The original Broadway production, starring Ellen Burstyn and Charles Grodin, opened in 1974 and ran for over three years, earning rave reviews and several Tony awards. It was made into a film starring Burstyn and Alan Alda in 1978.
The cast of "Same Time, Next Year" features two versatile actors in the pivotal roles of the long-time couple.
Tricia Belan, playing Doris, has been seen in numerous shows at Four County, including roles as Princess Winifred in "Once Upon a Mattress," Ouiser in "Steel Magnolias," and Crystal in "Little Shop of Horrors."
Randy Clark, who is playing the role of George, has been seen in "The Last Nite Before Christmas" and as El Gallo in "The Fantasticks."
Frank DeAngelis, who directed "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" for Four County in 2008, will helm this show.
Wendy Novicoff is the producer, Amy Lynn Hart is set designer, Tracie Steger Skipper is lighting designer, and Nancy Rodland is designing costumes.

Performances are on Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m.; there will be matinees on Sunday, May 10 and Sunday, May 17, and there will be an additional matinee on Saturday, May 23 at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $14 for adults and $12 for senior citizens and students.
