Beginning this week and throughout the month of May, the Arts Center in Orange is pleased to present a satellite gallery exhibit of paintings by artist Lee Nixon, Jr. in the lobby of Virginia National Bank on Main Street in Orange.
Nixon works primarily in acrylics for their versatility and compatibility with other media. His impressionist paintings reflect a need, care, and reverence for a serene earth, and the desire to share it with the viewer through color, pattern and texture. He will also occasionally create fantasy art which depicts the value of wisdom, the young mind's desire for knowledge, and the joys associated with youth.
A native of Orange County, Nixon received a bachelor of science degree in art education from Virginia State University. After teaching at Daniel Morgan Middle School in Winchester, he returned to Orange in 1980 to teach at Orange County High School.
Visit the Arts Center in Orange at 129 East Main Street to purchase paintings or for more information.
