MINE RUN IDOL
The Mine Run Idol competition will be Friday, June 12 at 7 p.m. There will be three divisions: for ages eight and under, nine to 15, and 16 years and up. One winner per division plus grand prize winner. $15 entry fee. Entries must be received by June 1. Contact Nancy Biscoe, 854-4995.

RAIN BARREL WORKSHOP
The Central Virginia Master Gardeners' rain barrel workshop is June 13, 10 a.m. to noon at the Louisa Town Park Pavillion. Register by June 3. More information is at TJSWCD.org, or call Kim Williams at VCE, 967-3422. There is no charge for the class, but there is a $45 fee for the first rain barrel and a $40 fee for subsequent barrels. All other parts and expertise are supplied on site.

YOUNG AT HEART CLUB
The Young at Heart club, which takes local trips and performs community service, is open to anyone. June 3, games and pizza. June 10, visit to James Madison Museum and Orange County Historical Society. The club meets every Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the East Orange Ruritan building at the intersection of Rt. 20 and 522.

LIVING HISTORY WEEKEND
The Civil War Museum at the Exchange Hotel, Gordonsville, will host its annual living history weekend June 6 and June 7, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Events to commemorate the museum's 20th anniversary are a cake walk, ice cream, crafts, and entertainment camp life, medical and military demonstrations, fried chicken, and railroad tours. BEL CANTO SUMMER CONCERT
The fifth annual Bel Canto Vocal Ensemble summer concert, "Songs of love and Life" is June 6 at 8 p.m. at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church Parish Hall, Culpeper, and June 7 at 4 p.m. at Piedmont Episcopal Church, Madison. The program includes a light-hearted mix of classic, folk and humorous songs about love and life. An ice cream social follows the concert. All are welcome. Admission is free.
RURITAN YARD SALE
The Barboursville Ruritans will hold an "under the tent" yard sale Saturday, June 6, 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the clubhouse (next to the Four County Players).

RUTH SCHOOL REUNION
The Ruth school reunion is set for 1 p.m. Saturday, June 6 at the Madison County Rescue Squad building. Anyone who attended the Ruth school at any time is welcome to come. Contact Jeanette Meade for information at (434) 242-0337.

ORANGE AARP
The Orange Chapter 5373 of AARP regular monthly meeting is June 8 at 12 p.m. at the Orange County Rescue Squad building. This will be a finger food luncheon. All are invited to attend and bring a dish. The community service project for May is to bring either food or money for the food bank. AARP is open to all persons over the age of 50. RRCSB-AAA BOARD MEETING
The Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Services Board and Area Agency on Aging (RRCSB-AAA) will hold its regularly scheduled board meeting Tuesday, June 9, at 1 p.m., at its office at 15361 Bradford Road, Culpeper. KEMPER TRIBUTE

O.C. HEALTH FAIR
The annual Orange County Health Fair will be June 18, at the OCHS Field House. The event will provide free health and dental screenings, blood pressure and HIV testing, glucose screens and more for children and adults.

QUILT GUILD

POMC MEETING
The Central Virginia chapter of Parents of Murdered Children, Inc. will be meeting the fourth Friday of each month at 7 p.m. at Culpeper United Methodist Church. The church is located at 1233 Oaklawn Drive in Culpeper. All friends and family members of persons who have died by violence are encouraged to attend. Parents of Murdered Children is the only national self-help support group devoted solely to the aftermath and prevention of murder. On-site childcare will be provided during all meetings. MENTORS NEEDED
The Breakfast Buddies Program at Gordon-Barbour Elementary school needs volunteers to mentor students. Do you have a half- hour one day a week to volunteer? The program runs on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays weekly and volunteers are asked to meet with a student between 8 and 8:30 a.m. to share breakfast, play games, read, assist with homework or just talk and have fun. School breakfast is provided for volunteers. Coffee is available. This program is sponsored by the Orange County Office on Youth. DIVORCE SUPPORT GROUP
DivorceCare, a seminar and support group for people who are separated or divorced, will meet the second and fourth Thursdays, from 7:30 to 8 p.m. in the library at the Lake of the Woods Church. It's a place to be around people who understand what you are feeling, a place to hear valuable information about ways to heal the hurt of divorce. Call 972-9060 for information.

WEDNESDAY ALANON MEETINGS
