Four County Players is proud to present "Othello" by William Shakespeare. One of Shakespeare's most famous tragedies, this is a dark tale of jealousy that fuels a downward spiral that is ultimately Othello's demise.
One of the world's most timeless tales of love and betrayal, Shakespeare's tragic masterpiece begins in Venice, Italy. Senator Brabantio's daughter, Desdemona, has secretly married Othello, the Moor whom Iago begrudgingly serves as an ensign. Having recently been passed over for a promotion by Othello, Iago calmly and methodically plots his revenge. As the story unfolds across the sea, envy and deceit spiral into epic tragedy.
Clinton Johnston, who directed last year's "A Christmas Carol," is back at the helm for "Othello.” The cast features Ray Smith as Othello and Claire McGurk as Desdemona. Other cast members include Leslie M. Baskfield, Marcia Pentz, Sean Chandler, Nick Heiderstadt, Eamon Hyland, Alan Hickerson, David Zuby, Kath Torbert, Eamon Hyland, David Vaughn Straughn, Ben Jamieson and Cameron Brasted.
Rounding out the production staff are Tracie Skipper as producer and lighting designer, Kerry Morgan as scenic designer, Dorothy Smith as costume designer, Wren Curtis as sound designer, Wendy Novicoff as properties mistress, and Caitlin Lucia returns as stage manager.
