Get ready for some sharp-dressed men. ZZ Top is coming to the nTelos Wireless Pavilion for a Tuesday night show of Texas-steeped rock and blues.
Guitarist Billy F. Gibbons, bassist Dusty Hill and drummer Frank Beard are recognized for their iconic sunglass-wearing style, red car. (Beard, by the way, is the one without the beard.) The three men teamed up in 1969 after leaving their previous bands.
The trio’s albums include “Eliminator” and “Afterburner,” which cemented their fame among young MTV fans who enjoyed watching the musicians hand over magic car keys to down-on-their luck protagonists.
Hits from “Eliminator” include “Gimme All Your Lovin,” “Sharp Dressed Man” and “Legs.” Their other hits include “Cheap Sunglasses,” “Velcro Fly,” “La Grange” and “Tush.”
If you need to catch up before the show, “Chrome, Smoke and BBQ” is a comprehensive four-CD box set of the men’s work, and “Rancho Texicano: The Very Best of ZZ Top” is a two-disc collection. “Mescalero” is the trio’s latest release.
ZZ Top was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004.
