The Arts Center In Orange is pleased to announce a satellite exhibit of mixed media work on canvas by artist Susan Krieg at The Light Well Restaurant located at 110 East Main Street in Orange. The exhibit will remain through Feb. 29. The exhibit is funded in part by The Virginia Commission for the Arts and underwritten by Mason Insurance.
Mixed media artist Susan Krieg is internationally known for her neo-classical figurative series titled "Archetypes of the Feminine." Born in Fargo, ND in 1952, her journey has taken her from Fargo to Chicago, Minneapolis, San Francisco, Phoenix, New York City, Los Angeles, Lake Tahoe and most recently to Virginia. Since 1989, when she established her business as Krieg Art Studio, Krieg has painted more than 400 large-scale paintings from her archetypes series.
She is equally prolific creating florals, still lifes, commissions, landscapes and trompe-l'oeil. During her six-year period in Los Angeles, Krieg completed dozens of large scale mural and façade improvement projects including a tribute to Bob Barker at CBS and celebrity images on 40 roll-up security doors along the Hollywood Walk of Fame. She painted two six-foot fiberglass angels--one for the Staples Center and one for the Wilshire Grand Hotel-and a six-foot bear for South Lake Tahoe.
Krieg was selected to facilitate the painting portion of Judy Chicago's "Envisioning the Future" project and as an educator has taught workshops in Montreal and Los Angeles. Her most recently completed project is the 2011 mural titled "Communication" in the library of Orange County High School.
Krieg's work is included in the 2007 "Best Of America Mixed Media Artists Vol 1" from Kennedy Publishing. Susan Krieg's works are on permanent public display at the Taj Mahal casino and at Trump Plaza in Atlantic City, NJ. Her works have been utilized in several television productions including The Young and the Restless, Pacific Blue and Time of Your Life. She has two poster images available, published by Grand Image/Winn-Devon Publishing.
