Saturday, Feb. 7, several members of the HoofMates 4-H club attended the Northern District Hippology Contest held in Warrenton. Ashleigh Ramey, below placed fourth overall in the Senior Tests with third in Senior Stations and fourth in Senior Horse Judging. The Junior Team of Haley Wilbanks, Grace Wilbanks and Abigail Turner placed fifth in Junior Team Problem Presentation. The highlight of the afternoon was an appearance of Miss Virginia Rodeo, Charla Wacker. Seniors Sydney Davis and Colton Peregoy also participated. This was the first time that our members have competed in a hippology contest. Hippology contests are made up of different phases of total horse, tack, and feed knowledge: written test, slides test, stations test, team problem presentation, and horse judging. Pictured above are the junior team members, Ashleigh Ramey and Miss Virginia Rodeo.
