Gordonsville

There's still time to sign up for our Book Lover's Club, a reading program for adults! Library cardholders 19 and older (or graduated from high school) can sign-up for a chance to win one of our great prizes just by reading books. Stop by your branch for more details. Last day to sign up is Friday, March 12. The program runs through Saturday, March 13.

Thursday, March 11
9:45 a.m. Family Storytime held at the Gordonsville Town Hall on Thursdays. For children ages 18 months-6 years and their caregivers. This is a 30-40 minute program with stories, action rhymes, songs and a craft.
Duck, Duck, Goose Storytime. Listen to stories about some of your favorite feathered friends. Preschoolers will make beautiful bird puppets.

Thursday, March 18

Thunderstorm Storytime! We'll read a selection of stormy stories and preschoolers will make a rain cloud craft.

10:45 a.m. Book Babies for children up to 18 months and their caregivers. This is a 20-minute program on Fridays with stories, songs, fingerplays, music, and social playtime. Sign-up required. For more information call 854-5310.

Tuesday, March 16
10:15 a.m. Toddler Time for children ages 18 months to 3 years and their caregivers. This is a 20-minute program on Tuesdays with short stories, songs and music and movement activities.
11 a.m. Preschool Storytime for children ages 3-6 and their caregivers. This is a 45-minute program on Tuesdays with stories, action rhymes, songs and a craft.
Thunderstorm Storytime! We'll read a selection of stormy stories and preschoolers will make a rain cloud craft.

Wednesday, March 17
4 p.m. Teen Game Day: Wilderness Library will be having a game afternoon for teens. We'll have Dance Dance Revolution, Rock Band, and plenty of board games. Drop in for a game or two. We'll be providing pizza and soda. There is no charge and it is open to those in grades six - 12.

Friday, March 19

1 p.m. Movie Afternoon
Our based-on-a-book movie series finishes up with "The Other Boleyn Girl," starring Natalie Portman, Scarlett Johansson, and Eric Bana.
What is it about?: In this sumptuous and sensual tale, the two beautiful Boleyn sisters, Anne and Mary, driven by their family's blind ambition, compete for the love of the powerful King Henry VIII. Both women will share his bed but only one will ascend to the throne in a brief reign that ends with the most storied swing of the executioner's sword in history. Rated PG-13 for mature thematic elements, sexual content and some violent images.

Friday, March 12
3:30 p.m. Teen Anime: Come watch the first disc of Kaze no Stigma. Snacks provided. Free and open to sixth - 12th-graders. No registration required.
What is it about?: Kazuma is a descendent of an ancient clan skilled in the magical Fire Arts. Unfortunately for him, the gift seems to have skipped a generation. Defeated by his younger, female cousin, Ayano, in a battle to become the clan's successor, Kazuma is exiled with only the smoldering burn of failure to keep him company. But now he's back, risen from the ashes and armed with a powerful new mojo that's sure to fan the flames of the family rivalry. The cooler he gets, the hotter she burns, and when Wind and Fire collide, Tokyo is caught in the eye of the storm.

Saturday, March 13
11 a.m. Science Club: This month Science Club is all about taste. Learn about taste buds, the connection between taste and the other senses, and find out if you are a super taster. We provide all the materials, you provide the curiosity. Various food products will be present, so those with food allergies should use caution. Free and open to third - seventh-graders and their families. Registration required, call 672-3811 to sign up or stop by the Orange Public Library.

Tuesday, March 23
5:30 p.m. Movie Night
Orange Public Library will be showing "2012," a movie about the end of the world as we know it.
Free and open to all. Popcorn will be provided.
What is it about?: Never before has a date in history been so significant to so many cultures, so many religions, scientists and governments. This film is an epic adventure about a global cataclysm that brings an end to the world and tells of the heroic struggle of the survivors. Rated PG-13 for intense disaster sequences and some language.
