SP1 Acrylic Painting
Students will have the opportunity to explore acrylics through a variety of painting exercises which address color, composition, value and style. One-on-one guidance makes this an appropriate class for a wide range of students.

SP11 Drawing Animals for Teens & Adults
Our four legged friends offer plenty of opportunity to draw challenging subjects. In this course we will use foundational skills to create drawings and portraits of animals. Since they do not stay still for very long, it would be advisable to draw from photographs. This course will also cover the art of the quick study and gesture drawing, so do come with a sketchbook. We will be using graphite and other dry media dependant on student interest.

SP12 Beginner Oil Painting
Painting in oils is what many of us think of when we hear the term "fine art". It can also be the next step up on your way to becoming a fully rounded artist. The course will include color theory, color mixing, basic techniques from the bare canvas to the finished product. We will also create oil studies from still life. Time/weather permitting we will venture outdoors for some plein aire experience.

Wire Wrapped Ring Making
Beautiful rings to adorn your fingers, or someone else's. A wire wrapping technique will be used to create two rings. One in copper for practice, the second in sterling silver with a 6 mm faceted stone.

SP18 Drawing and Watercolor Workshop
Learn to create drawings as studies for finished art works and how to use watercolor as an immediate record of an inspiration. Beginners may chose to simply learn how to draw what they see. More advanced students may push their parameters in watercolor with the help of instructor Michelle Powell's expert eye. Depending on the weather, we will address the Virginia countryside directly or work indoors from photographs.

SP19 KIDS! Decorative Farm Egg Workshop
Make your own beautiful Easter eggs! Blow fresh eggs, paint the shells with your own unique designs and thread with ribbon for ornaments you can keep for years, or dye boiled eggs with natural dyes made from beetroot and onion skins and distinguish them with wax designs.
