  • White bumps Burkett from board

    Orange County Economic Development Board Chairman Jim White defeated incumbent supervisor Zack Burkett and fellow challenger Art Magner for the District 2 Board of Supervisors seat. White collected 62 percent of the vote with 987 votes, to Burkett's 494 and Magner's 113.

  • Goodwin keeps BOS seat

    In the evening's most hotly contested Orange County Board of Supervisors race, incumbent Teel Goodwin defeated challenger Will Likins to retain the District 3 Supervisor seat. The voting was split 60 to 40 percent, with Goodwin receiving 822 to Likins' 537.

  • Amos secures second term

    Orange County voters overwhelmingly endorsed Mark Amos for a second term as sheriff. 

  • Frame fends off Brady challenge

    Orange County's most populated district, District 5, also had the greatest voter turnout, as incumbent supervisor Lee Frame was elected to another term by defeating challenger Suzanne Brady. Frame's 1,646 votes were good enough for 70 percent of the votes. Brady collected 678 votes.

  • Reeves squeaks past Houck

    Perhaps the most contentious local election wasn't exclusive to Orange County. Republican challenger Bryce Reeves battled longtime 17th District incumbent Edd Houck to win a seat in the Virginia State Senate.

    Orange County voters elected unopposed Phyllis Yancey to her sixth term as Orange County Treasurer Tuesday. 

  • District sends Scott back for fifth term

    Voters in Orange, Madison and Culpeper counties continued their support of unopposed Republican incumbent Ed Scott for the 30th District seat in the Virginia House of Delegates. 

  • Chewning elected to third CoR term

    Unopposed incumbent Donna Chewning was elected to her third term as the Orange County Commissioner of Revenue Tuesday. 

  • CSWCD Directors

    Robert Bradford and Alyson Sappington were reelected to the Culpeper Soil and Water Conservation District board of directors Tuesday.

    It's been a long time coming. After months of seeing posters on lawns around the county, attending forums and debating merits, voters will finally get their chance to officially choose their local and state representatives Tuesday.

  • Final forum

    The Orange County Chamber of Commerce hosted its third and final candidate forum Monday night at the Lake of the Woods Community Center, featuring a debate between the District 5 candidates for board of supervisors and school board and also the candidates for sheriff and commonwealth's attorney.

    Between the two of them, Orange County Treasurer Phyllis Yancey and commissioner of the revenue Donna Chewning have 55 years of experience and both are seeking reelection.

    When Orange County voters head to the polls next month, they'll have a variety of candidates to choose from, but those names may not represent all the choices. To vote for some candidates, one may need to fill in the dotted line.

    On Nov. 8, voters will choose candidates to fill three vacant seats of the Orange County School Board. Newcomer Sherrie Page is running unopposed for District 2, while incumbent Judy Carter is running unopposed for District 3. At the eastern end of the county, incumbent Jim Hopkins faces some competition for District 5 from write-in candidate Alexis Gray.

  • Candidates face off in first forum

    Monday night, approximately 150 people listened to candidates for District 2 supervisor, commonwealth attorney and sheriff debate each other in the first of three Orange County Chamber of Commerce-sponsored candidate forums.
