Police say a Locust Grove woman is dead after a Monday night crash in Orange County.
Ashley Nicole Bryant, 22, died at the scene of the accident on Route 604, State Police spokesman Sgt. Les Tyler said.
According to Tyler, Bryant was eastbound on Route 604 about a half mile west of Route 621 just before 7:30 p.m. when her car ran off the right side of the road. Tyler said Bryant overcorrected, causing her 1995 Chevrolet Cavalier to leave the roadway again. The car then struck a ditch and overturned.
Tyler said Bryant was not wearing a seatbelt. He added that the investigating officer, Trooper K.G. Sydnor, stated that Bryant might have survived the accident if she had worn the seatbelt.
The State Police were assisted by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, Lake of the Woods fire department, Mine Run Fire and Rescue and VDOT.
