Master Gardners share expertise at Orange farmers market

» 0 Comments | Post a Comment

Beginning this Saturday, July 17, Master Gardeners will be at the Orange Farmers Market the third Saturday of each month. Stop by and check out the latest on deer management-this month's focus-with information on deer-resistant plants, repellants and protections. Bring your gardening questions, pick up soil sample kits or simply stop in while you're at the market to learn more about the Master Gardener program.
Virginia Master Gardeners are volunteer educators working within their communities to encourage and promote environmentally sound horticulture practices through sustainable landscape management education and training.
Each month, the Master Gardeners will focus on a different topic at the farmers market. Aug. 21, the topic will be water conservation, with organic composting on the schedule Sept. 18. The Oct. 16 topic will be "putting your garden to bed."
The Orange Farmers Market sells local garden produce and other varied offerings such as baked goods, hand-made soaps, handcrafted jewelry, decorative items, fibercrafts and handcarved wood. It is located in the community parking lot on Route 15 in Orange Saturdays, 9-1.
