PICNIC IN THE PARK
Celebrate Orange’s sixth annual Picnic in the Park Independence Day celebration will be July 4 at Booster Park. Gates open 4:30 p.m. with family-friendly games, and entertainment at 5:30 p.m. featuring Orange Community Band and Chorus and Kenwood Players. Fireworks at 9:30 p.m. No admission fee; $5 per car parking. Bring a picnic or support our vendors. No alcohol permitted.

MOOSE JULY 4TH
CELEBRATION
The Orange County Moose Lodge #2198 will present a July 4th celebration starting at 6 p.m. Fireworks start at dark, food will be available, dunking tank. Bring chairs or blankets. No alcohol.

Pool promotion
Gordonsville’s Dix Memorial Pool is holding a half-price July 4 promotion. In-town residents are admitted for $1, while out-of-town residents will be admitted for $1.50. The pool is open Saturday, July 4 from 12-5 p.m.

BARBOURSVILLE
FIREWORKS
The third annual Barboursville community fireworks show is Saturday, July 4 at 9:30 p.m., at the Barboursville Community Park. This is a free event sponsored by the Barboursville Masonic Lodge #112 in celebration of our country’s independence. All community members are welcome to attend. Please bring a chair and come early to enjoy the festivities.

CLOVERBUD DAY CAMP
Cloverbud Camp, July 6 - 10, is 100 percent dedicated to children who are ages 5- 8 by Sept. 30. Each day focuses on a different 4-H area like animal science, creative arts, and natural resources. Camp is held at the Orange Research Station on Route 15, across from Pizza Hut. Fee: $30. Contact Orange Co Ext. office for information, 672-1361.

CONCERT
Singer/songwriter Gordon Jensen will be at Blue Run Baptist Church, Somerset, during the 11 a.m. service Sunday, July 5. He has written such spiritual songs as “Written in Red,“ “I Should Have Been Crucified” and “Redemption Draweth Nigh.“ He has been nominated five times for GMA Songwriter of the Year. Please encourage family and friends to make plans to come and visit with us July 5.

HEALTH INFORMATION
The Orange CHIP (Coronary Health Improvement Project) free information session is Wednesday, July 8 at 7 p.m. at the Orange Train Station to provide details on the upcoming five-week health seminar event beginning Sept. 14. YOUNG AT HEART CLUB
July 8, picnic at Otis Gooding’s house. ORANGE AARP
The Orange Chapter 5373 of AARP will meet, Monday, July 8 at 12 noon at the Orange County rescue squad building for the regular monthly meeting. This will be a finger food luncheon. AARP is open to all persons over the age of 50. For more information, call Dottie Wampler 672-4335.

KIDS IN THE KITCHEN WORKSHOP

THERAPEUTIC ADVENTURE CAMP (TACO)
TACO (formerly known as Special Riding Camp) is an Orange tradition for children with disabilities who come to experience therapeutic horseback riding in a day camp setting. Held July 13 - 17 at Elmwood Farm on Rapidan Road. No charge. Contact Orange Co Ext. office for information, 672-1361.

BOOSTERS FOOTBALL AND CHEERLEADING
The Orange County Boosters football and cheerleading sign-ups are July 13 and 14 from 6 - 7:30 p.m. at the Booster Park Pavilion for boys and girls, ages five - 12. $45/flag, ages five to six; $55/tackle, ages seven - 12; $45/cheerleading, ages five to 12. BLUEGRASS AND GOSPEL
The public is invited to enjoy an evening of bluegrass and gospel music July 17 at the clubhouse next to Waugh’s off Route 20. Come for the fun and music or bring your bluegrass instruments and play. SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT

B4 THE FAIR WORKSHOP

4-H DAY CAMP
Fair Camp focuses on having fun at the Orange County fair. Two different sessions will be held for children ages five - 10: July 23, 1 - 4:30 p.m. and July, 24 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Campers will participate in scavenger hunts, milking demonstrations, butter making and crafts. OCFC BENEFIT BINGO
The Orange County Free Clinic is hosting a bingo fundraising event at the Orange County Fair Saturday, July 25, 3 - 8 p.m. Great prizes will be awarded to the winner of each individual game. VOTE FOR RIKKI’S REFUGE
Go to http://www.rikkisrefuge.org, click on the purple button in the yellow box and cast your vote for Rikki’s Refuge as your favorite shelter. You can vote every day until July 26 and if Rikki’s Refuge wins the contest, it could also receive a grant! This will come at a time when donations are down and new animals are coming in in record numbers.

CPR AND SCUBA WORKSHOP

ECOVENTURES CAMP

NPS PROGRAMS AT WILDERNESS
A National Park Service Historian is on duty at the Wilderness Battlefield Exhibit Shelter on Rt. 20, Tues. - Thurs., 10:30 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. and 1:45 - 4:15 p.m. On Fri. - Mon., the historian is on duty 10:30 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. and 1:45 - 5:15 p.m.

POSSIBLE TEEN ADVENTURE CLUB
Are you between the ages of 13 and 19? Do you like being outside and trying new and challenging activities? With enough interest, a 4-H Teen Adventure Club will be formed. The club would take trips for camping, hiking, canoeing, and whitewater rafting while learning about outdoors, team work, and natural resources. Interested?
