Four County Players, Central Virginia’s longest running community theater, announces its annual family Christmas production, “A Christmas Story.”
The play, written by Phil Grecian, is adapted from the motion picture” A Christmas Story,” written by Jean Shepherd, Leigh Brown, and Bob Clark and based on the book by Jean Shepherd. This joyous celebration of childhood centers around Ralphie, who wants only one thing for Christmas: a genuine Red Ryder BB gun, even though all of the adults in his life tell him “You’ll shoot your eye out!“ This memoir of a boy growing up in the Midwest has become a perennial holiday treat for the whole family.
The cast of “A Christmas Story” features newcomers and veterans including Bailey Bush, Kevin Cox, Kinsey Cox, Mary Cox, Jacob Deloriea, Victoria Mellott, Daniel Neale, Sheridan Parkinson, Kristen Rabourdin, Hope Rabourdin, Lauren Reynolds, Robert Rydland, Bradley Shipp, and Bill Smith. Devynn Bush and Derby Thomas are co-directing, with costume design by Lauren Boggs Meslar. Wendy Novicoff is the producer, the set is designed by Sid Wood, and sound design is by Donald Spaulding. Lighting design is by Tracie Steger Skipper, and Mary Ellen Cole is the production stage manager.
“A Christmas Story” opens Dec. 4 with performances on Friday and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sunday matinees at 2:30 p.m. through Dec. 19. There are two additional matinees on Saturday, Dec. 12 and Saturday, Dec. 19 at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for senior citizens and students, and $10 for children; all tickets to Friday performances are only $5. The play is appropriate for all age groups. For more information and tickets, call the Four County Players box office at 832-5355 or check the website at http://www.fourcp.org.
