The second annual Orange County Health Fair for all ages will be held Thursday evening, June 18, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., in the Orange County High School Field House.
This year, the committee has invited more than 50 local organizations to promote the medical and social services they offer.
The event and the health screenings are free to all, and include diabetes, cholesterol, blood pressure, hearing, vision, heights, weights, and BMIs screenings and tests.
All of the local hospitals and health care centers within the Orange area will be on hand to assist with screenings and promote health services.
Culpeper Regional Hospital will have an informational display and check blood pressure. Blood sugar testing will be offered by the Orange County Free Clinic.
Pediatricians will provide free sports physicals for the first 20 boys and girls to register. This physical will be good for summer and fall sports. To take advantage of this free offer, pre-registration is required. Call Shelia at the Orange Boys & Girl Club by June 16, 672-6858. Parental consent is required and paperwork must be filled out in advance of scheduled physical appointment.
The University of Virginia Health System will give away bags filled with school supplies to the first 25 school age children and their parent or caregiver who attend the fair.
In addition, the first 75 health fair attendees get a free 5” X 7” framed family portrait (limited to six family members). This could be a great gift for Father’s Day! Photos are courtesy of Orange Pediatrics’ Dr. Diane Pappas and family.
As well as lifesaving health screenings and educational materials, the health fair will feature kids’ crafts, activities, a Moon Bounce, the OWOW bus will be on site, and everyone who attends can walk away with lots of freebies and door prizes.
For folks who come hungry, the free clinic will be selling healthy snacks.
