The Orange County Animal Shelter is excited to announce the addition of the “Faithful Companion Cottage” to the amenities available for use by residents interviewing pets for adoption or volunteering their time to help socialize animals in need. This building is located between the garden and play yard at the current facility and is staged to represent a living room or office as might be found in a typical home. It offers privacy and quiet so that you and your new best friend have an opportunity to get to know one another in comfort!
With insulted walls, heating and air conditioning, a desk and more, there are plenty of reasons to come snuggle up on the couch and spend the afternoon. Bring a book and practice your reading skills or get help with your studying (please note that OCAS is not responsible for dogs eating your homework)!
We are trying very hard to make the animal shelter the place you think of first when you consider adding a new pet to your family. All cats and dogs are fully vaccinated, spayed or neutered, tested for heartworm and Lyme disease, de-wormed, temperament tested and in many cases, microchipped. You cannot find better pets, or adopt them for less money, anywhere. Come see us-you will love the cottage and the pets who want to meet you there!
The Faithful Companion Cottage has been made possible by the following dedicated and generous individuals who donated funds, supplies and lots of hard labor:
Indira Cope, Geoff Simpson, Connor Barrett, Layton Brown, Will Csorba, TJ Holt, Chad Kolumber, Worth McAlister, Mark Price, Matt Ramsey, Nathan Shepherd, Wilson Tarbox, Moore Woltz and Deb Follo Caughron of Woodberry Forest School, Bob and Ruth Langford of Paint ‘N Paper, Mandy Westfall and Will Fairhurst of Mountain Laurel Group Home, Lowes of Culpeper, Bob and Peggy Cooke, Janice Sweeton and Leo Silvan.
Also, Dr. Anita Walton, Locust Grove Veterinary Clinic; Andi Bureman, Bill and Kasee Charest, Bill and Sheila Derryberry, Harry and Mandy Hopkins, John and Betty Hughes, Dave and Dianne Reddy, Dan and Betty Shelton, Toni and Marilyn Woboril and Jim and Pam Golas.
Special thanks to Case Roush and Boy Scout Troop 170 for your days of dedicated service hanging wallboard, painting, putting up trim and building steps. We appreciate your attention to detail and are grateful to have been chosen as the designated beneficiary for your Eagle Scout project. Congratulations! Thanks again to all who made this wonderful addition to our shelter possible!
