According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, Brandon Michael Keene, 38, of 23 Galt Way in Stafford, crashed his vehicle at the intersection of Brick Church and Lahore Road at around 5 a.m. Oct. 3.
After the crash, Keene left the scene of the accident and broke into an occupied home on Brick Church Road, authorities said.
After being confronted by the house’s resident, Keene first demanded the telephone and then broke furniture, dishes and other items in the residence, police said.
While Keene’s rampage continued, the occupant of the house escaped through a second story window and summoned help from the deputy who was in the process of responding to Keene’s car crash.
A sheriff’s office K-9 team was also called to assist.
Orange County Sheriff’s Office Captain Randy Shifflett apprehended Keene in a nearby field. Keene was treated for extensive injuries and transported by helicopter to UVA Medical Center.
Keene faces felony charges of entering a dwelling during the night with intent to commit larceny, and intentionally destroying, damaging and defacing personal property.
