Sunday June 14, the Orange County Habitat for Humanity held a Service of Dedication in Unionville to celebrate completion of their latest project. Anthony and Gissela Beasley and their children Kevin, Keanna and Anthony Jr. are the Habitat house’s new owners. This home is the 24th completed by Habitat, which has helped deserving families become homeowners in the Orange area since the 1990s.
During the ceremony, Orange County Habitat for Humanity President Adrianna Cowan-Waddy extended her gratitude to those who volunteered at the site and made donations to the project. Special thanks were given to Bill Nowers, who played a key role in the construction, and to the founder of Orange County Habitat, John Henry.
New owner Anthony Beasley Sr. said he considered his participation in the project to be a blessing. As part of the dedication ceremony the Beasleys were presented with a Habitat homeowners’ housewarming basket, containing a Bible, flowers, bread, salt, a candle and sugar. And, they received the keys to their new home.
Habitat volunteers and Beasley family members broke ground on the house last November. But fundraising for the project began about three years ago. The family plans to be moved and settled into their new three-bedroom home in coming weeks.
Rapid Ann Garden Club members completed the gardening and plantings surrounding the house. Grelen Nursery, Oranges Garden Club, Village Feed and others donated plants and shrubs.
Cowan-Waddy said Orange County Habitat for Humanity is already making plans for the next project. To learn more about Orange County Habitat for Humanity, visit http://ochfh.org.
