Despite the rain, Orange County Boosters baseball andsoftball still played some great games this past week, and the T-ball teams continue to create excitement.
The pitcher’s mound was the place to be this week. Dorian Shifflett, Nolan Waugh, and Sara Estes saw a lot of action in that position Saturday. In Minor League ball, the Braves played the Cubs on Friday night and won 19 - 11. Bailey Clayton pitched a great game. Kendall Moody made a double play on a pop fly and Keller Coleman played a hard game behind home plate. The Nationals played the Yankees Saturday in a marathon game lasting three and a-half hours and each team exhausting all of their pitchers. Tucker Hensley and James Gallihugh toughed it out as catchers for three innings and pitchers for two each. Chris Carroll and Jake Bryant each pitched an inning to help their team. The game ended with Nationals 24, Yankees 27. There were a lot of runs for a baseball game. The Major League Nationals won their game against Madison on Friday with a score of 12 - 10. This was a close game for those boys, but they worked very hard for the win.
On the girls’ side, the 10-and-under team, the Rockies, had a double header in Charlottesville on Saturday. Although they lost the first game to Luck Stones 1 - 6, they rallied back and won the second game 5 - 2. The 12-and-under girls have a game this Wednesday at Booster Park at 6 when the Mariners will take on the Braves.
Thank you to all who supported the Boosters’ yard sale on Saturday. There were some great deals out there!
As I’ve said before, come on out to Booster Park one weekend to enjoy the sunny weather, see a ball game or two, and support the youth of our great county!
