JV boys soccer
The OCHS JV boys soccer team lost to Fluvanna 2-0 Tuesday, breaking a tie at the top of the Jefferson District standings.
The Hornets tied Western Albemarle 0-0 Friday night in a key Jefferson District matchup that left Orange tied with the Flucos and Western in second place, heading into Tuesday night’s match.
The OCHS JV boys soccer team remained undefeated with a 5-0 win over Monticello Thursday.
Jose Gallegos had two goals, Danny Goodsell had one, Chris Johns had one, and Jacob Sanner celebrated his birthday on the field by scoring his first high school goal!
JV girls soccer
Orange's girls scored three goals but it wasn't enough to top visiting Western. The Warriors were one better and won 4-3 Friday night in Orange.
The JV girls lost 2-0 to Monticello a night earlier. The Hornets' record stands at 3-4 and 1-3 in the district.
JV softball
Amber Fincham shut down Monticello to lead the JV Hornets past the JV Mustangs 6-1 Thursday night.
Fincham, Amber Fortune, Ayla Pfazlgraf and Kaitlynn Gilmore were the Hornets' hitting stars as Orange improved to 5-3 with the win.
Orange picked up a key district win last Tuesday with a 5-3 victory over Fluvanna.
Fincham picked up the win for the Hornets on the mound.
Pfalzgraf, Emma Chronister, Lindsay Bledsoe and Rachel Crowder keyed Orange's offensive attack.
JV baseball
It was a busy week for the OCHS JV baseball team. The junior Hornets picked up four wins to improve to 11-3 and 5-2 in the Jefferson District.
Monday afternoon, the Hornets traveled to Culpeper and won 10-3.
Mitchell King threw six innings and allowed no earned runs in picking up the win.
Raheim Cooper had two hits and two runs batted in and King added two hits as well. Jake Koontz went three for three with two doubles, scored twice and drove in two runs. Nolan Moore also had two hits and two runs batted in.
Saturday, the Hornets completed a rain-delayed game from Tuesday against Fluvanna. When rain suspended the game, Orange led 3-1. Saturday, they finished off the Flucos and won 9-1.
Mike Colvin pitched six shutout innings Saturday, striking out 10. Cooper had two hits, scored four times and added a run batted in. King had two hits and three runs batted in and Colvin added two runs batted in. Brenton Pitts scored twice.
Friday, Orange traveled to Monticello and came home with an 8-2 win.
Moore pitched a complete game, and struck out five in earning the win.
Tyler Seal had a hit, run scored and run batted in. Colvin had a two-run double and Brandon Twigg had an RBI-double and scored twice.
Thursday, the Hornets went to Chancellor and blasted the Chargers 21-10 in a slugfest.
Twigg had four hits, including two doubles, scored three times and drove in two runs. Cooper had two hits, including a triple, scored twice and drove in four. Colvin added two hits, including a triple, and also drove in four. David Dulin had three hits, scored three times and drove in four more runs for the Hornets.
Orange plays at William Monroe Friday at 4:30, and at Madison Saturday at 4 p.m.
