When the Orange County High School varsity girls softball team won their State AA quarterfinal game against Poquoson, the girls had a rematch with Broad Run. The Spartans edged the Hornets 2-1 in the Region II finals and the Orange girls were looking for revenge. The Hornets had been scheduled to play Broad Run Friday, June 5 in the state semifinals in Radford. But heavy rains forced the game to Saturday, June 6, meaning six seniors would miss graduating with their classmates at Porterfield Park. But their teammates didn’t let them down and the Hornets held a special ceremony for the seniors prior to their semifinal showdown.
