Girls win 6-0

Micalah Sacre dominated on the mound and the Hornets used a balanced offensive attack to win a Jefferson District Softball Tournament semifinal match-up with Louisa 6-0 Tuesday night in Fluvanna.
Sacre dominated the Lions hitters through five innings, striking out 14 and keeping the Lions from even coming close to scoring.
Meanwhile, the Hornets scored plenty themselves.
After a missing a prime scoring opportunity in the second inning, Orange struck for four runs in the third.
Tina Spencer led off the inning and home run, then Sacre singled. She advanced on a fielder's choice and scored on Heather Jenkins' single. Jenkins moved up on Mandy Murphy's singled and Cali Allen drove her home to make it 3-0, Orange. Then, Brooke Dotson drove Murphy home with a single to give the Hornets a four-run lead.
Orange tacked on two more in the fourth. Spencer doubled and scored on Paige Pritchett's double. Pritchett scored on Jenkins' double and the Hornets had all the runs they'd need.
Sacre and Jenkins combined on the shutout, limiting the Lions to just three hits.
The Hornets return to Fluvanna Thursday to face Monticello for the district title. Regardless of the outcome of that game, Orange has already secured a Region II tournament home game and will host an opponent to-be-determined Wednesday, May 27.
