Whales nip Gators in last meet

The Louisa Gators, formerly of Gordonsville, hosted the Key West Killer Whales at the Louisa County Aquatic Facility Wednesday, July 21.
Being the Gators' last home meet of the season, many new swimmers were given a chance to compete and earn ribbons before the championships. It was a close race, but in the end the Gators fell short to the Killer Whales; however, the Gators only lost by 23 points! Head coach Debra Bickley was very proud of her swimmers, especially when she found out that the team had earned 163 time improvements from the previous meet.

For notable achievements, Ethan Wilkinson earned gold times for both  the butterfly and backstroke, and Megan Hummill earned a gold time for the butterfly.
All teams in the Jefferson Swim League, including the Louisa Gators, competed in the Jefferson Swim League Championships at the University of Virginia Aquatic and Fitness Center Friday and Saturday, July 30 and 31. This was the last swim competition of the season.
