The LOW Barracudas finished up the 2010 summer swim season by placing second at the RSL American Division Finals. Teams competing in the finals held at the King George YMCA Aug. 7 were: first place, Lee's Hill (791.50 points); second place, LOW Barracudas (735.50); third place Fox Point Fintastics (632 points); fourth place Fredericksburg Country Club (615 points); fifth place, Ferry Farm Swim Team (562 points) and finally the Eden Estates Eels in sixth place (526 points).
It was a strong finale for the Barracudas following a tough season of one win and four losses.
In the 25 meter free event, 6 and under boys, the top finisher was Parker Ford in fifth, Sydney Wynn came in eighth for girls. For the 8 and under age group, Corrinn Ford took third for the girls in A division, Jasmyn Haakman third for B division, and Julia Koehler first for C division. Boys in this age group were Hayden Abbott, third for A division, Kyle Johnson and Adam Boukhari second and third for B division, and Ethan Eclipse and Devin Jackson second and third for C division. For 9-10 year olds, Devynne Lockhart came in eighth for A division, Kiana Jeffries seventh for B division, and Lucy Turner, TJ Wynn, and Anna Geracoulis took fourth through sixth for C division. Boys in A division were Luke Wilson in fourth and Paul Wilson in sixth. Michael Suche came in eighth for B division, and Zack Corbeau and Gene Flecker took first and second in C division.
For the 25 meter butterfly, Bethany Blake and Corrinn Ford earned fourth and sixth place for 8 and under girls in the A division. In the B division, Isabel Haakman earned sixth, while Genna Blake and Julia Koehler earned first and second in the C division. Drew Harrington pulled off a third place finish for A division boys, Kyle Johnson and Adam Boukhari earned sixth and seventh in B division, and Ethan Ewing and Mitchell Bagley earned third and eighth respectively for C division. Laine Harrington earned second place for 9-10 girls in A division, Kelly Williams and Gabrielle Crowe earned fourth and sixth for B division, and Emma Browning and Coco Ciskanik got third and sixth in C division. Luke Wilson came in sixth (A division), Logan McDonald second (B division), and Zack Corbeau and Michael Suche second and third (C division).
The 25 meter back found top place finishes for both boys and girls in the A division for Bethany Blake and Drew Harrington. Genna Blake and Alex Torres got fifth and sixth for B division girls, and Kendall Wynn and Emma Harlan got second and fifth for C division girls. For the boys, Hayden Abbott took fifth for A division boys, Christopher Stanton third (B division), and Mitchell Bagley and Ethan Eclipse second and fourth for C division. For 9-10 year olds, Laine Harrington got second and Paul Wilson fourth for the A division, Devynne Lockhart and Kiana Jeffries third and fifth for B division girls, Gene Flecker and Michael Suche third and seventh for B division boys. In C division, Anna Geracoulis and Klaire Sumner took eighth and ninth and Josiah Koehler fifth.
A division girls (8 and under) took fifth and eight in the 25 meter breast for Bethany Blake and Isabel Haakman, boys Drew Harrington and Hayden Abbott got second and fifth. For B division, Corrinn Ford and Julia Koehler earned second and fourth for girls, while Adam Boukhari was fourth for the boys. In C division, Jasmyn Haakman and Genna Blake took first and third, Ethan Ewing and Christopher Stanton got second and fifth. The 100 meter IM earned fourth and sixth place for A division 12 and under boys Ernest Eclipse and Noah Klug. In B division, girls Kaitlyn Johnson, Sarah Horwath, and Zahra Boukhari earned second, third, and fifth. In C division, Kayla McDonald and Gabrielle Crowe earend third and fifth for the girls, boys Luke Wilson and Keegan Kelson got second and fourth for the boys. For the 13-18 year olds, Kristen Cook and Lindsay Cook earned third and eighth in A division, Elliott Fairhurst got fifth for the boys. In B division, Hayley Gunnett and Kendall Taylor took fourth and fifth for the girls, Matt O'Donnell and Jonathan Fairhurst got third and fourth for the boys.
In the 100 meter free 12 and under, Kaitlyn Flecker came in ninth for A division girls, Paige Harlan and Madalyn O'Neill-Brown got sixth and ninth in B division, and Jacelynn Gray, Caitlin Chubb, and Regan O'Donnell got first, fourth and fifth for C division. Sean Bush and Dallas Walker earned fourth and eighth for B division. Logan McDonald tied for second in C division, followed by Caleb Enriqu4ez (sixth), Josiah Koehler (eighth) and Zak McCloud (ninth). For the 13-18 year olds, Zoe Klug and Corey Kreiter took tenth and third for A division. In B division, Theresa Bulik got second, while Eric Brown and Kevin Paxton got third and seventh. In C division, Hannah MacDonald got sixth for the girls, Tanner Kelson, Archie Crowe, and Trevor Ali eared first, second and sixth respectively.
The top finisher in the A division 50 meter free for 11-12 year olds was Sarah Horwath in fifth. In B division, Zahra Boukhari took third for the girls, while Dallas Walker and Foster Browning got fifth and eighth for the boys. In C division, girls were Kayla McDonald (first), Michaela Paxton (third), Madalyn O'Neill-Brown (fifth), Brianna Bowman (eighth), Tiffy Bush (ninth) and Madison Donahue (tenth). Boys were Claeb Enriquez (seventh) and Zak McCloud (ninth). For 13-14 year olds in A division, Erin Kreiter earned second for girls while Jonathan Fairhurst and Julian Ciskanik got fifth and ninth for the boys. B division girls were Mallory Davis (seventh) and Rebecca Harvey (eighth), boys were Ryan Johnson (fourth) and Sean Brown (fifth). C division girls were Megan Ali (sixth) and Brae Fletcher (eleventh), Daniel Hyden got second for boys, Pierce Gray ninth and Ryan Harvey tenth. For the 15-18 year olds, Corey Kreiter earned second in A division, followed by Kyle Hayes in sixth and Elliott Fairhurst in eighth. B division girls in this age group were Alexa Eclipse (second), Amber Breeden (fifth), Kendall Taylor (sixth), and Rachael Roberts (eleventh). Matt O'Donnell took first for the boys, followed by Kevin Paxton (fourth), Hunter Kelson (sixth), and John McQuaid (eighth). Alexis Donahue and Emily Klug took second and sixth for C division girls, Conor Martin took first for boys.
For the 50 meter fly, Noah Klug and Ernest Eclipse earned third and seventh in A division for 11-12 year olds. B division swimmers were Chandler Renaud (second), Kaitlyn Flecker (fourth), and Jacelynn Gray (seventh) for the girls, Sean Bush earned third for the boys. In C division, Zahra Boukhari came in first for the girls, followed by Caitlin Chubb (seventh), and Regan O'Donnell (eighth), Foster Browning got second for the boys. For 13-14 year olds, Erin Kreiter came in fourth in A division, Julian Ciskanik sixth, and Tanner Kelson eighth. In B division, Kala Curtis and Rebecca Harvey got fifth and eighth, Matt Ross and Archie Crowe got third and sixth. In C division, Jessie McQuaid and Rebekah Roberts got fifth and sixth, Sean Brown and Daniel Hyden third and fifth. For 15-18 year olds, Kristen Cook and Corey Kreiter each earned fourth for A division. B division girls were Lindsay Cook (sixth) and Kendall Taylor (ninth), boys were Elliott Fairhurst (second), Hunter Kelson(fourth), and Kyle Hayes (fifth). In C division, Hannah MacDonald and Alexa Eclipse got sixth and eighth for girls, Eric Brown and Trevor Ali got first and seventh for the boys.
In the 50 meter back, top A division finishers were Erin Kreiter (second), Jonathan Fairhurst (sixth) for 13-14 year olds. Kristen Cook took first place in A division for 15-18 year olds, followed by Dani Amoruso in tenth and Conor Martin came in seventh for the boys. B division finishers were Kaitlyn Johnson (third), Paige Harlan (fifth), Foster Browning (eighth) for 11-12 year olds. Sean Brown took second for 13-14 boys, Zoe Klug and Theresa Bulik seventh for the girls. In C division, Caleb Enriquez earned fifth for 11-12 boys, while girls came in second, fifth, and eighth place for Michaela Paxton, Madalyn O'Neill-Brown, and Brianna Bowman. For 15-18 year olds in C division, Hannah MacDonald and Alexis Donahue got third and sixth for girls, Kevin Paxton, Trevor Ali, and John McQuaid got first, fourth, and fifth for the boys.
This was the final swim meet after over a decade of Barracudas swimming for three recent OCHS graduates. Lindsay Cook took first place in the 50 breast at finals. She has been on the team for 12 years and will be attending Germanna Community College in the fall with plans to obtain a bachelor's degree in criminal justice in the future. Zoe Klug, who has been a Barracuda swimmer for 10 years, placed second in the 50 back and third in the 50 breast. She will be pursuing a major in fine arts and photography from Christopher Newport University this fall. Kevin Paxton, a 13-year swimmer, earned first in the 50 back and fourth in the 50 free. He is heading off to VCU to major in music education and minor in performance.
The Barracudas look forward to another successful season with coach Sheila Wimble in the summer of 2011.
