The Lake of the Woods Barracudas took on the Fox Point Fintastics July 6 for a competitive night of swimming, with the Barracudas coming out on top 270 to 237. Triple winners Noah Klug, Julian Ciskanik and Corey Kreiter helped the boys dominate their events.
Individual Events
Noah Klug (12) took first place in the 50 meter free, the 50 meter back, and the 100 meter individual medley. Julian Ciskanik (14) finished first in the 50 meter free, the 50 meter back, and the 50 meter breast. Corey Kreiter (18) was first in the 100 free, 50 fly, and 100 IM. The three boys teamed up with Nico Balk (8) and Paul Wilson (10), to also take first in the graduated 125 meter free relay.
Other top finishers for the meet were Foster Browning (12) in the 100 free, Kayla Balk (6), Adam Boukhari (7), Emma Browning (10) and Luke Wilson (10) in the 25 meter free. Boukhari and Paul Wilson (10) also took first in the 25 fly. Kyle Hayes (17) won the 50 free, Foster Browning (12) and Ernest Eclipse (13) won the 50 fly for their age groups. In the 25 meter back, Emma Browning (10) took first, Chandler Renaud (12) and Conor Martin (16) won for the 50 back. In the 25 meter breast, Gene Flecker (10) earned top honors while Kyle Hayes (17) took the 50 breast.
The Wilson brothers (10) gave a one-two punch in the 25 free and the 25 fly, Paul first in the free followed by Luke in second. Luke came back for first in the fly, followed by Paul in second, each seconds ahead of the third place swimmer.
Relay Events
In the 100 meter free relay, 8 and under boys and girls both came out on top with the girls' team of Genna Blake (8), Kayla Balk (6), Isabella Copeland (8), and Jasmyn Haakman (7). Boys were Adam Boukhari (7), Parker Ford (7), Kyle Johnson (8), and Nico Balk (8). The 9-10 boys also took first with Luke Wilson (10), Zack Corbeau (10), Gene Flecker (10), and Paul Wilson (10). The first place 11-12 girls were Krista Lancing (12), Paige Harlan (12), Zahra Boukhari (12), and Chandler Renaud (12); boys were Foster Browning (12), Keegan Kelson (11), Dallas Walker (12), and Noah Klug (12). The 13-14 winning boys' team was Ernest Eclipse (13), Daniel Hyden (14) , Devinn Spencer(13), and Julian Ciskanik (14). The 15-18 boys also took the win with Matt O'Donnell (17), Kyle Hayes (17), Hunter Kelson (17) and Corey Kreiter (18). The boys medley relay events also earned first for the teams of Foster Browning(12), Naoh Klug (12), Max Yetter (11), and Dallas Walker (12) and Conor Martin (16), Corey Kreiter (18), Julian Ciskanik (14) and Kyle Hayes (17).
The Barracudas facedthe Spotsylvania YMCA Dragons for an away meet July 25. The Rappahannock Swim League American Division Finals will be August 6 at the King George YMCA, with the LOW Barracudas hosting the event.
