The Orange County High School varsity girls soccer team rebounded from a tough loss to Charlottesville with a double-overtime 3-3 tie with Louisa Thursday night.
Earlier in the week, facing a stout Charlottesville squad, the Hornets fell behind the Black Knights early and couldn't catch up in a 7-1 loss.
Charlottesville scored 20 minutes into the game and added three more before the end of the half to make it 4-0. The Black Knights piled on three more goals after the break before the Hornets found the back of the net. Sophomore Taylor Bennett took an Aliyah Linatoc pass and scored to make it 7-1.
Thursday night, hosting the Lions, Orange fell behind early but rallied with a strong second half to force overtime in a thrilling district match-up.
The Lions scored on a corner kick five minutes into the game and tacked on two more first-half goals to take a comfortable 3-0 halftime lead.
But the Orange girls stormed back with a great second half. Nine minutes in, Alexis Donahue score Orange's first goal to make it 3-1.
With 16 minutes remaining, Alexa Eclipse took a shot from 35 yards out and found the back of the net to cut the lead to 3-2. A few minutes later Mandy Cronin tied the game up, forcing overtime.
Neither team found the back of the net in the first extra period and after another five-minute extra session, the game ended knotted at 3-3.
Orange goalie Emma Chronister stopped 20 Lion shots in the tie.
The Hornets host William Monroe Tuesday night, Fluvanna Thursday and Western Albemarle Monday night before the Jefferson District Tournament begins later next week.
